TIRED OF YOUR BLOATED STOMACH?
Start getting rid of it today with a nutritional scientist that has been through it...
My entire story from being completely bedridden to my search for knowledge and scientific data to lead a healthy life and helping others do the same.
I’m Anita Tee, and I spent years being bloated, fatigued, and sensitive to all foods from eggs to eggplant.
Like most people in this situation, my story during this time was not a happy one. It’s a story of spending years in agony, constant physical discomfort, and frequent emotional lows.
I was 22 years old and had just finished my Bachelor’s degree. I had just moved into a new place and was ready to start a new job. Things were going well, and I was keeping up with my workout routine and eating well as always. I was a normal, healthy person. Or so I thought...
Things started off with a little fatigue - I wasn’t able to get through my workouts as usual. Hmmm… this was odd, I thought - but nothing more.
It was within a matter of weeks that my familiar stomach had turned into a fully distended pregnancy belly overnight - with no apparent explanation!
What the heck? I consulted multiple doctors, all of them pointing out that I was “obviously” pregnant or - following the repeated, humiliating pregnancy tests – said that it was nothing, or they didn’t know, or it was IBS and I would have to live like this forever.
"I Soon Found Myself Bedridden"
It wasn’t long before things took a turn for the worst. You see, I had no education on the matter, I had no idea that if I ignored this problem and hoped it would go away, or tried to learn to live with it and continue my life, it would absolutely not get better, but rather get much, much worse….
I soon found myself bedridden, so chronically exhausted that I needed assistance to walk up the 3 steps to my apartment. My face and body broke out into horrible acne, which I hadn’t even experienced so badly in my teenage years! I was reacting to every food I ate, constantly craving sugar, and my weight was increasing, despite trying to counteract it with more exercise and less food. I was confused, and terrified, what the heck was going on with my body!?
I fought for my health. I fought hard. I forced my way into seeing doctors and specialists, spent hours in hospitals and clinics, even moved across the world to see specialists that I was “sure” could cure me - yet the answer always seemed to be the same: No conclusive diagnosis. It’s probably just IBS. Live with it.
Unlike the millions of people before me who I now know have been fed this same story, I refused to accept it. I refused to accept that I would be bloated, exhausted, unable to eat any of my favourite foods again without reacting, unable to live a single care-free day that wasn’t dictated by my digestive symptoms. I had spent my entire life trying to be a healthy person - this could not be my fate.
So, after seeing 17 doctors across the globe, I decided to begin doing my own research through my Master of Science degree.
I had just begun my graduate studies, and in combination with my background in Genetic & Molecular Biology, I had all the tools for figuring out this problem at my disposal. I realized that nobody was going to care about my health as much as I did, and it was my responsibility to do everything I could to return to health.
So I researched, I studied, and I combined all of the relevant information available. And then I began to find answers.
I developed a strategy, and began applying my own interventions. I scientifically monitored my health status by testing various aspects of my digestive health, and was amazed to see my body improve so much from therapies that I was applying in my own home!
By the time I had completed my degree, I had landed a specialization in Digestive Health & Gut Bacteria, and had my research in this area published by the British Association of Nutritional Therapists.
By using my own interventions, not only did my digestion improve, my fatigue disappear, my acne clear up, and my mood lift - but a whole bunch of other life-long health problems began to vanish as well! For the first time in my life, I was no longer anaemic. For the first time in my life, I did not spend one day each month crying in pain from unbearable menstrual cramps. These were problems that no doctor or specialist had been able to help me with - and now, they were gone!
I was healthy, and it felt great. However, even with this amazing new freedom, one thing remained on my mind….
Throughout my entire journey, I had begun talking to many people along the way, discovering that 1 in every 5 people experience some form of digestive disorder, and nearly every single one of them had shared similar experiences in [lack of] treatment options.
I was carrying so many tools, so much new knowledge, so many therapies that could hugely improve or entirely fix people and free them of these problems for life!
I knew not everyone had the option to travel and access international help, and the majority of people lacked the necessary scientific education to really research, diagnose, and apply interventions to themselves. For most people, these limitations make healing seem far-fetched, or even impossible. It didn’t feel right that the therapies were out there, and so many people didn’t have access to them.
This is when I decided to take my practice online. I wanted to make sure that everybody, regardless of where they were in the world, could get access to this same level of help.
That’s when Fact vs Fitness was born.
